One year ago the SGE (Study Group Exchange) team from Rotary International Distrcit 4570 in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil was landing in District 6600 in Ohio, USA.
Preparation wasn´t easy but the mission was properly accomplished! Ana Clara, Ana Elisa, Juliana e Diego, 4 young guys that barely knew each other and I, Leonardo Allevato, as the leader of the team, together in an unknown land, with unknown people. Fear and insecurity was showing in each one, but the receptiveness and hospitality of the group waiting for us at the airport made us instantly feel home.
The transfer in a limousine, the first host family, the first meal, the first visits made the group become more confident. Everything was remarkable and very important both within personal and professional field. Meeting new people, new cultures and new places is an experience worth being lived and makes us more human and aware of our mission on this planet.
Thanks to internet, we kept ties live with many of those who sheltered us through those days. They are unforgettable and will remain in our minds forever!
Congratulations on Rotary for keeping such a program which certainly contributes for peace between nations and once more we thank Districts 4570 and 6600 teams for the organization and effort on making this program a reality!
